I wish to welcome readers to our Ministry’s Website. Through mutual exchange of information with stakeholders and the public, better understanding of the role and mandate of our ministry will be realized. The contribution of this ministry of Forestry and Wildlife to the National, Economic and Social agenda through sustainable management of forests and wildlife resources need not be over emphasized. Our mandate is challenging and broad and includes, protecting, conserving and sustainably managing the forests and wildlife resources in the country. Another major challenge in conservation arises from emerging global environment concerns such as climate change, ozone layer depletion and biodiversity loss. Our mandate is therefore, linked to the improvement in the economic and social consitions of Kenyans hence the objective of achieving equity, ecological sustainability and economic growth.

The management of forestry and wildlife resources are multi-sectoral in nature and require positive interactions with both national and international partners. The ministry has therefore endevoured to partner with and involve all stakeholders in the implementation of the strategic plan. With assistance from stakeholders we intend to institute appropriate institutional reforms and carry out policy and legislative reviews with the objective of enhancing their sustainability management. The ministry has also developed a Service Charter and members of the public are encouraged to read it as it sets out how we provide services and how our services can be accessed. On behalf of my ministry, I welcome readers contributions, comments and views for improvement of our service delivery.
