Guiding Development Principles
Forest and Wildlife enhance the quality of life of Kenyans and therefore we believe:

  • In providing for and sustaining the diversity of our forest and wildlife heritage for present and future generations.
  • That the future of forest and wildlife depends on a public that appreciates, understands and supports forests and wildlife.
  • In education and involvement of youth and adults in forest and wildlife and other related activities.
  • In compliance with national and international laws and conventions governing the forestry and wildlife resources use, protection, conservation, and management
  • In pursuance of good relations with forestry and wildlife neighbouring communities
Goals of MFW
The overall strategic direction of MFW for the next five (5) years conforms to the Development Vision 2030 for Kenya on environmental sustainability and socio-economic transformation. The goals of the forestry and wildlife sectors are to:
  • Promote conservation of biological diversity,
  • Administer, regulate and develop forestry and wildlife resources,
  • Involve and empower all stakeholders in forestry and wildlife conservation,
  • Promote sustainable utilization of forestry and wildlife resources, as well as in fair and equitable sharing of benefits,
  • Enhance the contribution of the forestry and wildlife sectors in the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP),
  • Contribute to poverty alleviation and improve the quality of life of the people of Kenya, and,
  •  Promote exchange of relevant information and expertise nationally, regionally and internationally.
